Please join us for “Indigenous ROCKers, RAPers, and Activists” This program is free and open to the public. Williams Hall, at the intersection of University and Solano Aves.

Join us for this all-ages, free community workshop that is part of the "Wendy Red Star: The Maniacs (We’re Not The Best, But We’re Better Than The Rest)," exhibition programming. Choose your favorite song from printed lyrics available at the gallery; we’ll provide markers, pencils, cardboard, glue, scrapbooking decoratives, and magazines for you to create an illustrated, visual response to this song! Gallery staff is available to take complimentary digital photos of participants, if desired. This event is open to the public. The exhibition will be on view for attendees to experience. No reservations required. 

The party never ends with Keen, a Texas troubadour considered one of the most influential singer/songwriters in red dirt country. Keen appears with his long-time band members on guitars, drums and steel guitar: “Corpus Christi Bay,” “Feeling Good Again,” “Gringo Honeymoon,” “The Road Goes On Forever.” Sponsored in-part by Fusion Medical Spa. Spectacular choreography, opulent sets and cutting-edge hilarity, this is an award-winning production by the Santa Barbara-based company of 18 professional dancers from across the globe. The University Art Gallery (UAG) will present NOT ONLY, BUT ALSO: 2018 MFA Thesis Exhibition, which features artwork by Seven MFA candidates Fahimeh Foudazi, Joshua Flores, Madison Manning, Mónica Martínez-Díaz, Tiago Finato, Patrick Shaffer, and Jeffrey Erwin. This year’s MFA show gathers together a broad range of creative interventions into the questions we face everyday. As you walk through the galleries, engaging with these works, you will encounter a number of efforts to ask what it means to be someone now, what identity is and how we might find it, maintain it, and come to own it. Meanwhile, we learn from these works that the questions of identity intersect with questions of memory, society, power, and politics. Free event. 

The Academy was formed to ensure the continuation of high quality music education programs in face of the myriad challenges facing our public and private schools … and to provide music education to home-schooled children and teens. Music education is critical to the development of our children.

Many families are unable to cover the tuition costs of supportive programs for students. In Las Cruces Public Schools, 74.3% of students are economically disadvantaged.

Southwest Music Academy’s policy is that all students enrolled in the SNAP program receive reduced tuition. We also strive to make several scholarships available for after school and summer programs.

While Southwest Music Academy strives to make our programs as affordable as possible, we do seek assistance to provide partial and full scholarships for deserving students.

Join the Museum of Nature & Science and the Bureau of Land Management for an introduction to species commonly found in the Organ Mountains followed by a guided nature hike on an Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument Trail.  Arrive at the museum prepared to hike with good footwear, long pants and sleeves, sun protection, snacks and water.
